WHO IS DR. CHRIS?
I was born in Akron Ohio and lived in that area through my high school years. I attended Rosary College in River Forest, IL for one year and then transferred to Georgetown University in Washington, DC where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Russian. I was a wife, a mom and a teacher for several years before I decided to go back to school to become a chiropractor. After taking my pre-med courses, I entered Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, GA outside Atlanta.
At the end of my second quarter in chiropractic school, my husband was killed in a holdup leaving me with a 7-year-old-daughter and a professional education that had just begun. I completed the twelve quarters of schooling in three years and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) Summa Cum Laude. I was thrilled to have graduated first in my class.
During my studies at Life Chiropractic College, I met and eventually began dating fellow classmate Lewis Bixon. We were married and moved to Longwood in the summer of 1983 and practiced together until 1994. In December of 1984 we were blessed with the birth of our son, Michael. My husband is currently involved locally and nationally with helping the homeless. My daughter is a full-time mother and a part-time attorney practicing in Jacksonville. Michael now attends Barry University Law School.
Since the day I graduated from Life College, I have constantly strived to stay current with the field of chiropractic and healthcare in general. I am board-certified in scoliosis treatment. After a five-year diplomate program in chiropractic orthopedics, in December of 2000 I was granted the status of Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists (D.A.B.C.O.).
I am advanced-proficiency rated in Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique and am honored to have been added to their teaching staff as an assistant instructor to teach other doctors. It is gratifying to have been selected for inclusion in several WHO’S Who: Who’s Who of American Women; Who’s Who Among Outstanding Americans; Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
My underlying commitment in my practice of Chiropractic is this: With God’s help, I will respect, love and care for my patients to the very best of my ability.
